General Rules
This league will utilize a pitching machine.
The machine will be placed at 40 feet from home plate and the speed will be 38 mph.
There will be a 10-foot diameter circle chalked around the pitching machine and screen. This is the “Dead ball zone”. Players will not be allowed in this area. The umpire and one coach from the defensive team will be the only ones allowed inside the circle. The umpire will feed the machine and call the game from inside the circle. The coach will be allowed to coach his players from the circle. This coach will also be sure that no player comes into the circle.
If a ball hits the machine it is dead. The player will be awarded first base if the ball was hit on the ground or on a line. A fly ball that lands within the circle will be dead. This will result in an out. All hits and outs in these instances will be awarded by the umpire based upon his discretion.
All teams will utilize a pitcher and a catcher. The pitcher will start on the outside of the circle, either side, behind the machine, with one foot touching the edge of the circle.
Bases will be 60 feet apart.
Teams can play up to 10 players (4 outfielders). No team can play with less than 8 players. In the event a team only has 8 players, they can elect to play only 2 outfielders or no pitcher.
No player will sit on the bench more than 1 inning per game.
Every player bats. For example, if you have 11 players, all 11 players will be in the batting order. The batting order must remain the same throughout the game. If a player is injured, he will be removed from the batting order and that spot will be skipped. It will not be considered an out.
Free substitution for the team in the field is allowed.
All games are 6 innings or a time limit (1 hour 15 min). Extra innings will not be played past the time limit. Games will be considered complete after 4 innings in the case of rain.
Each Batter gets 7 pitches per at bat and must swing on the 7th For each at bat, the player is out after 3 strikes.
No dropped 3rd strike.
There are no lead offs and no steals.
Runners cannot score on a dropped pitch by the catcher.
There is no infield fly rule.
There is a 5 run limit for the first 5 innings.
The game will be considered complete if a team is ahead by 10 runs after 4 innings. If the home team is up by 10 or more runs, they will not bat in the bottom half of the 4th.
All other standard baseball rules apply.
